Up, up and away! The annual Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is underway. Ballooning pix & linx galore coming soon. For now, up, up and away with poetry news.
from Alex Traube, NM CultureNet newsletter:
For CultureNet, autumn means that our poets are at work again in schools around the state. This fall they are working in Santa Fe, Espanola, Pojoaque, and Lovington. In the spring, we hope to be working in the Four Corners and in southern New Mexico. In addition to the deep satisfaction we feel in serving students and teachers, we are proud to support talented writers who work with us to serve youth. For more information about our Poets-in-the-Schools program, visit our website: http://www.nmculturenet.org/poetry/poets-in-the-schoolsPoetry at NM CultureNet: http://www.nmculturenet.org/poetry/
Anyone up for campaigning to bring Poets-in-the-Schools to Mountainair?

Here's the poem:
She spoke in shadows, glyphs,a woman who covered her face, held her secrets. There were no maps for where she'd been.He was a household name, widely quoted, led a public life. How safely can a flame love the ocean? How close can a moth come to the sun?Great distance was their best meeting ground.

If I could retire and spend all of my time in Mountainair, I'd love to do Poets in the Schools. I miss the NM poets.
ReplyDeleteTamra - but certainly something to keep in mind for down the road. Resident probably trumps Visiting in getting a program off the ground.
