The Rainbow Artists project described in the Call for Entries below is only one of the National Hispanic Cultural Center's many offerings for Women and Creativity 2008.
Partnering with Insituto Cervantes, the March 1-16 event features readings from an anthology, Metamorfosis, published for the event, receptions and a round table discussion.
The Instituto Cervantes in partnership with the National Hispanic Cultural Center held a call for submissions seeking creative writing in Spanish by women for an anthology entitled Metamorfosis. These works reflect experiences of personal, political and other transformations in one’s life and community. The Metamorfosis project is one of the activities of Women and Creativity 2008 organized by the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Wise Fool is collaborating with HNCC in putting on a special cabaret with the theme "Women & Creativity" and looking for people to put together 5-7 minute acts for a one hour variety show. Past performances include aerials (trapeze, lyra, fabric), dance, theatre, drag, singer/songwriter, music, spoken word, media arts, puppetry etc. It's a lot of fun but calls for a commitment -- contact them if you are interested and feel sure you can do it! Delivery of works:
March 1, Saturday to the theatre lobby of the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) between 9:30 am and noon. The theatre is at the west side of the main entrance of NHCC.Media requirements:
All work is to be either mounted or painted on stretched canvas, unframed, ½" to 7/8" thick and no more than 16"X 20" in size. The media may be of the artist's choosing. Work must be identified on the back of each piece using the labels printed at the end of this call:Number of pieces and fees:
Rainbow Artists may enter one or two pieces. The entry fee is $5.00.Annual dues of $25 or requested scholarships must be current for 2008.

At least one piece for every artist will be hung and every effort will be made to hang all pieces entered.
Sales:
A list of artists, titles, prices will be posted at the show with a coordinator's phone number. There is no commission on sales: Buyer and artist will be put in contact with one other. All work is to remain in the show for its duration, however an exception will be made if the buyer is leaving town.
Pick up of unsold works: March 30 at NHCC theatre lobby between 11:30 and 1 pm.
Reception
Saturday, March 8, between 6:00 and 7:30 pm . Visitors welcome. The performance "Latin Divas" begins at 8:00 pm, Tickets availablefrom the NHCC.
