Neither did I until the tip showed up in an online newsletter I subscribe to. I can see not wanting to buy something heavy, perishable or exprensive to ship from, say, North Carolina, Maine or Canada. But a hard to find unusual or specialty item would be another matter. I wonder what you'd find searching for handmade beads or fabric adornments, homespun & dyed yarns?
