Joe Keefe, who is conducting the workshop, wrote, in answer to my questions:
The workshop is very general, will focus on the people who attend, get as detailed as they lead it, and go pretty much into any topic, area, they feel they need. We’ll explore things like definition of terms, focus, depth of field, composition, etc., but my emphasis will be that once you know the rules, feel free to break them, as that’s what creative photography is all about. I’ll cover things like shooting to gain a viewer’s attention, diverting that attention from point-to-point in a picture, and using color to enhance a picture’s appeal. We’ll cover the different types ofcameras available, value of megapixels, zoom, optical vs. digital, etc., and the need or lack of need for many common accessories. Basically, it will go wherever the discussion leads us, in addition to getting some wonderful shots of a gorgeous national monument (Gran Quivera Pueblo Mission Ruins), now celebrating its 100th anniversary.
