Earth Day Warm-up: Community Garden Workday

... Saturday April 21 at Mountain Arts on Broadway site, adjacent to the art center building. (right: Tomás and Lenora prepare raised bed) The site will also host the Mountainair Outdoor Sculpture Project planned by the Manzano Mountain Art Council. Wouldn't outdoor sculpture at Chavez Community Park be great too? Garden manager Joan Embree reports good turn-out and much accomplished.

Details and more pictures to follow. In the meantime, offer not just a hat tip to community gardener and Claunch-Pinto SWD volunteer Carla Cope, but a cloud of (gardeners) hats tossed jubilantly into the air for a splendid set of pictures. Just a few here and now, more later here and else where, eventually all in a Facebook album for easy sharing.

Love the VICTORY! picture for a day's work well done and look forward to following the garden and sculptures as they grow and can't wait for the next installment, next Saturday. Then there is also be the May 5 kickoff workshop, 10am-2pm, for outdoor sculpture.

Don't forget to sign up for the Sculpture Project: submit name, address, phone, email and a short description to Kent Potter, c/o MMAC, PO Box 534, Mountainair 87036 before May 1. First come, first served. Call Tomas Wolff, 847-2444, for additional information about workshop and project.
