Today Jun16 in #Mountainair

*Days of the Rancher event at Mountain Arts on Broadway, #farmersmarket (Mountainair Farm & Garden Market) and maybe a community garden work session (no word on that: check with Joan Embree, housemaven@comcast.net)

Art on the Range schedule, exhibit information and Pie Rules (nothing like the Cider House ones) as posted on the Manzano Mountain Art Council page and now **here.

Art on the Range schedule
11 am: Doug Muchmore
11:15 am: Rancho Bonito Tour
12:30 pm: Chautauqua Ralph Estes- "Billy the Kid"
2:30 pm: Costume contest parade, pie contest winners
3 pm: Entertainment by Kathy Anglin, Betty Nelson and family
3-6 pm: Exhibits, including original art by Joe J. Brazil and antique quilts (both also open to the public Sunday June 17)

Exhibits & Demos: Cow Belles, Knives; Antique Guns; Tin Making/Candle Making; Gourds; Western National Parks Association Books; Leather work; Rope Clocks; Embroidery; Wooden Rocking Horses; Ironworks; Farrier

Cowboy Food by Alpine Alley, Ancient Cities and Pack's Cafe, music by MHS Band

Home-made Pie Contest
  • All entries to dropped off at the art center on Saturday, June 16, between 11 am and 2 pm.
  • The baker's name and phone number on the bottom of the pie tin. 
  • Judging by the Cowbells at 2:30 pm.
  • Best pie determined by a combination of flavor and authenticity in following turn-of-the-century pie traditions
  • Prize: Sunflower Festival mugs.
  • Bakers may sell their pies after the judgingand.

** Posted here because of yet another annoying Facebook moment... I was set to post the following   directly on the Mountainair Online page there but for this message, "Are you sure you want to post this? You could be blocked for posting spam." Could this a devious plot to discourage posting directly to FB while encouraging more blogging on a competitor's platform? Seems backwards... Tales of Facebook's Bizarro World. 

No link embellishment because not included on original source. Don't know about you, but I'd sure like to know more about the quilt exhibit (surely worth a post of its own), other Western artists exhibiting and demos. Names, details, links. Educating and informing the public is smart promotion.
